Ode to Philosophers (a Calvin and Hobbes tribute)
It was snowy days they loved the best
Covered in white, a mortal test;
A hill dotted with trees blocked their way
But daringly they made it every day.
Treacherous and unsure they never shied
Away from the bottom where freedom lied.
The best part was the very profound
discussions they had on their way down.
Fittingly it echoed the unspoken grace
Of life and love on a bobsled's race.
Summer days and school was out,
For three months they'd romp about;
Reading comics and watching the tube,
Teasing each other with pranks and rubes,
Exploring territories yet untold
In the backyard where they carved the roads.
Granted at times they had their tiffs
But an unexpected hug at the end would lift
Their spirits as they snuggled at night
